 Maylene Visaya, M.A. Lead Behavioral Therapist

Maylene Visaya graduated from the University of Denver in 2006 with a degree in Psychology.  

Shortly after, she began working with Breakthrough Interventions, LCC where she trained under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Annette Nunez in Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Floortime, and the Social Competence Inclusive Play (SCIP) model.

Maylene received her Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado and a National Credited Counselor  who specializes in working with children with ASD.

She contributed to data collection and item development for the Children’s Social Competence Scale, in which she assessed over 200 children with ASD. Maylene also co-authored the children’s book FRIENDSHIP IS and is currently working on The BI Approach — a training manual for Breakthrough Interventions. Her primary research interest is language development in children with ASD.

Maylene’s responsibilities include: training and supervision of all Breakthrough Interventions senior behavioral therapists; assessing children, developing and implementing 1:1 in-home programming; transitioning children from home to school environments; and consulting with various school districts.
